Move towards your inner peace.
Inner peace is an attribute that is largely overlooked in the world. Many people take it for granted. Hollywood movies use to thrive on drama, there was always a protagonist, antagonist and a dynamic character.
Within the format of movie scripts are issues or problems that need to be solved. Add in the element of drama and you have a recipe for chaos. This is not real life. The turtle spirit animal calls on you to move away from chaos.
Do not engage with it, do not watch it in movies. Do not give dramatic people in your personal life the attention they seek, simply turn your attention elsewhere.
Turtles swim into the great depths of the ocean, coming up for air and going with the flow of life. There could be all sorts of things happening in the bottom of the ocean, yet the turtle maintains its sense of peace.
Interestingly, movies with violence can cause spikes in adrenaline, cortisol and cause anxiety. Start engaging in practices and rituals that nurture your peace of mind.
Create a secure environment for yourself.
Creating a secure environment for yourself is crucial for your survival. Turtles carry their homes on their back. You could feel called to pursue a nomadic life. A home is a sacred place, it is place of comfort. Typically, we do not invite danger into our homes.
In the same light, you need to evaluate the people in your personal life. A secure environment extends beyond your physical home. It also includes your mental space, in other words your mind.
Stop engaging with people that are draining your energy or are not uplifting your soul. You want to surround yourself with people that lift you higher.
Most turtles dive as deep as the abyssopelagic zone which is 4000 meters into the ocean. They migrate to different locations and forage.
Set healthy boundaries.
In the last decade, the term boundaries has become a mainstream term. Prior to that, human rights were the prevailing topic of interest.
Nowadays, when you are told to set boundaries, you are aware of the fact that it means saying no, standing up for yourself, not being taken advantage of in the workplace and potential friendships.
Many people are unaware of the fact that in your closest relationship, including those with parents and siblings, there is a need for boundaries.
If you are parent, instill a sense of respect between your children and teach them on their individual boundaries. This will help nurture the relationship for the long-haul.
Encourage people around you to solve their problems on their own and to not complain to one another.
Exercise patience.
Turtles are incredibly patient creatures. As they migrate from one location to one another, they travel through the vastness of the ocean. They are solitary creatures and patient in their objectives.
The Turtle spirit animal connects deeply with the energy of a monk. Moving along the vastness of the earth, maintaining a peaceful attitude. Appreciating people and their opinions, whilst not trying to change anyone or anything.
The Turtle spirit animal calls on you to exercise compassion. To be considerate to other people and their feelings. When traveling through Asia, I took a taxi cab in the evening. Inside the cab, the taxi driver was playing peaceful forest music. The smell of the taxi was clean, almost like the smell of nature.
The cab temperature was set to a cool It was incredibly peaceful. The energy of that taxi drive felt surreal. It was like I was in a different place. It is something I will never forget. You can set the tone for your own life.
In the same light, when you imagine a turtle. You would picture a female turtle laying eggs in the sand on the Galapagos islands. The turtle is patient as she digs the hole, lays her eggs and then moves towards the beach to swim off into the depths of the ocean.
You are called to complete your task and to not rush towards your objectives. There are certain things in life that take time, however, you will be richly rewarded with the results and the achievement of your objectives.
